Context :The children have been finding out about themselves.
Learning Intentions: To write name and labels using a range of mark making tools (CLL).
To find out about ourselves and others (KUW).
To choose colours and tools for a purpose (CD).
Success Criteria: I know/can identify similarities and differences of myself and others.
I know/can write my name and labels in different ways.
I know/can choose colours and tools to draw my face.
I know/can record information in a pictogram.

You will need: digital camera, printer.
The children used the digital camera to take pictures of each others faces. They sorted the pictures according to eye colour and made a pictogram. We counted how many children had green, blue or brown eyes.

You will need: Simple graph program.

We recorded the information in a pictogram on the screen.


Activity one:
You will need: simple paint program.
Children selected tools and colours to draw a picture of themselves on the screen.


Activity two:
You will need: simple database.
Children selected pictures in the database to record information about themselves.


Activity one:
You will need: paint, brushes, assortment of paper, paper plates.
The children painted their own faces and faces of other people.

Activity two:
You will need: ‘At the Doctors' Clicker 4 grid (right click on this link to save on your computer).
The children used the CD Rom and Clicker 4 grid to support their imaginative play in the role play area.

Activity three:
You will need: simple paint program.
The children wrote their names and labels for their pictures on the screen.

How many children have got one brother?
How many children are four years old?
Which tools have you used?
What is the same about the picture that you have painted and the picture on screen?
How did you print your work?
Why did you choose to write your label on the screen?
How is your printed label different to the one that you made at writing table?

Plenary/Recall: We talked about all the different ways that we have collected information about ourselves. We decided which media was our favourite and why. We thought about other ways that we could collect and record information. up
