You will need: magnifiers, digital microscope.
As a class, discuss the features and objects that you have observed on a 'Spring Walk'.

Use the digital microscope on a large screen or interactive whiteboard to observe, describe and name parts of a daffodil.

 




In small groups, ask the children to use magnifiers and the digital microscope to observe the daffodil. Encourage them to record their observations using chalk and paint.

You will need: simple paint program.
The children were given the opportunity to use a simple paint program to record their observations using the chalk tool.

Thinking Questions: What colours can you see?
Can you name the parts of the plant? How many petals can you count?
Which tools did you use?
How did you choose the chalk tool? Why did you choose the chalk tool?
How would you change your daffodil?
How did you change any mistakes you made on the screen?
How did you print your work?

Plenary/Recall: Compare printed work with the different types of media used. Think about the differences between using chalk on the screen and chalk on paper. Which gives the best effect? Why? What media would you use next time?up
