Plan for whole class and small group activities.

Mark interactive whiteboard pen with coloured spot to mark where the children hold it to write. |

Encourage children to explore the interactive white board during child initiated activities and planned play. |
Encourage children not to lean on the interactive white board with their hand. |
|
Stack objects or move tools to the bottom of the screen so that they can be reached. |
Remember to only touch the board in one place at a time. |

Display safety poster by the interactive white board.

Encourage children to use an 'air pen' during whole class or group activities to encourage interaction and reinforce pen control skills. |
|
Ensure that all cables are covered.
|
Use your finger nail or a soft beater to select and drag objects (Smart Board). |
|
Stand at one side of the board so that there is no shadow and where you are clicking and dragging can
be seen. |
Label parts of the interactive white board: pen, pen tray, rubber, keyboard, board. |
|
Clear a space in front of the interactive white board so that children have easy access. |
Display key vocabulary: pen, pen tray, rubber, click, double click, calibrate, projector, interactive whiteboard, key board, highlighter. |
