Using an Interactive White Board

Plan for whole class and small group activities.

 

Mark interactive whiteboard pen with coloured spot to mark where the children hold it to write.

Encourage children to explore the interactive white board during child initiated activities and planned play.

Encourage children not to lean on the interactive white board with their hand.

Stack objects or move tools to the bottom of the screen so that they can be reached.

Remember to only touch the board in one place at a time.

Display safety poster by the interactive white board.

Encourage children to use an 'air pen' during whole class or group activities to encourage interaction and reinforce pen control skills.

Ensure that all cables are covered.

 

Use your finger nail or a soft beater to select and drag objects (Smart Board).

Stand at one side of the board so that there is no shadow and where you are clicking and dragging can
be seen.

Label parts of the interactive white board: pen, pen tray, rubber, keyboard, board.

Clear a space in front of the interactive white board so that children have easy access.

Display key vocabulary: pen, pen tray, rubber, click, double click, calibrate, projector, interactive whiteboard, key board, highlighter.
