Clicker 4 grids may contain graphics,
words, phrases and sentences, video clips and sound. Writing grids enable
children to enter text into a writing program, simply by clicking words
or pictures. Clicker incorporates a writing program (Clicker Writer),
but it may be used with other word processing software.
In Clicker 4, you can:
use or adapt existing grids |
create and link your own grids |
record your own sounds |
insert pictures from a graphics library |
create your own talking books |
save documents as web pages |

Clicker Writer

When you load a grid, Clicker Writer
appears in the top half of the screen. It is a talking word processor.
You can type into it just as in any word processor. When you add a full
stop the sentence is spoken.
To save Clicker Writer pages, select
File and then Save Document As.
When you save a document from Clicker
Writer, it is saved as an html document - this means it is possible
to create web pages. Work produced in Clicker Writer will print everything
on the page, allowing the use of graphics to enhance children's work.
Clicker Grids

Left click on a cell to enter the text
into Clicker Writer. Right click on a cell to hear the word(s) spoken.
Example grids
When you open Clicker, you will see
a screen like this. Log on as 'none' for the Clicker 'home page':

Select See the Examples. Click
on a folder and then select a grid.

Once
you have opened a folder to view the example grids, use the Clicker
Explorer tool to get back to the folder.
The
up level arrow will take you to other folders.
Logging on
It is possible to create new users
for individual pupils and classes so that they have access to a limited
number of grids. Folders for the new users will appear in Clicker Explorer.
Customising the examples

It is simple to change the grids. Place
the mouse pointer over the cell you wish to change, press shift and
left click. Type in a new word and press Enter.
Make sure you save the grid under a different name, or the original
will be overwritten.
