Making a set of linked grids

Colours is a typical linked grid. Find it in the Examples folder High Frequency Words.

When you click a cell, it does not send the word to Clicker Writer. Each cell is linked to another grid. Clicking a colour opens a new grid.

To make a cell into a link (as in Colours)

1.Shift and right click on the cell. This will bring up the Cell Properties box.

Click the Open grid tab. Select Browse. Select the grid you want to open and click OK.
Save your grid. When you left click on the cell it will open your next grid.

As well as opening the new grid, this cell still sends the word to Clicker Writer. To make it act only as a linking grid, click Send in the Cell properties box. Click Send nothing and save again.

A sequence of grids can also be made, controlled by the blue arrows:
In this Letter Recognition grid, click on the arrows above the grid to move through the alphabet:

How to create a sequence of grids

  • Log on and select Make a Clicker Grid.
  • If you are already in Clicker, select File then New grid.
  • Make your first grid. For help with this, see How to make a Clicker Grid.
  • Save your first grid with a name and number 1, for example alphabet1
  • Then continue to make grids. Save the grids with the same name and number them consecutively, e.g. alphabet2, alphabet3, alphabet4 ...
  • There should be no space before the number. Users may now progress through the grids by clicking the blue arrows:
