At our school, we found that we were expecting the children in our school to use the keyboard without actually teaching them the necessary skills to do so. In Canada, I had seen a set of Dreamwriters used as word processors by a whole class. Having bought a class set of Dreamwriters, our aim has been to link the teaching of keyboard skills with the requirements of the National Literacy Strategy.
