Data handling with Information Workshop

Colette Cotton, St Mary's Primary School, Folkestone

This report demonstrates ways in which Information Workshop can be used to undertake database activities at Key Stage 2.

Children at St Mary's Primary school in Folkestone took part in a series of lessons using data collected during the Olympic games. They compared the use of a spreadsheet and a database to ask and answer questions. Details of their spreadsheet work can be found here.

These activities cover learning objectives similar to those in a number of units in the QCA scheme of work for ICT, particularly 3C, 4D and 5B.
