E-Learning Credits (eLCs) are now in their third year.
What
are Electronic Learning Credits?
E-learning
credits are for the purchase of Digital learning products. At present
there are over 20,000 approved
for purchase with your e-learning credit money. Further information on
these products is available at Curriculum Online: www.curriculumonline.gov.uk.
All products that are eligible for purchase will also have the curriulum
online symbol on them.

The following information
was sent to schools in June 2003, regarding the use of eLearning Credits.
- Schools
may only use their eLearning Credits (eLCs) to buy Curriculum Online
certified products from Curriculum Online registered content providers
or retailers.
- Only
registered content providers or retailers may use the Curriculum Online
logo on their promotional material to indicate products that are eligible
for eLC spend.
- Eligible
Curriculum Online products are certified by registered content providers,
who are responsible for ensuring that products support the curriculum
as taught in England, that at least 80% of their constituent part is
digital, and that the products work well on the technologies specified
for those products.
- If a
school is uncertain as to whether a content provider or retailer is
registered or a product certified for Curriculum Online, we recommend
that it should seek confirmation from the content provider or retailer
as to their status and which products are eligible for eLC spend.
- Schools
should use existing procurement processes to purchase approved digital
resources from registered content providers or retailers. Purchases
may be made online or offline.
- Schools
may choose to purchase approved digital resources from registered content
providers or retailers using part funding from other sources.
- Schools
should notify the registered content provider or retailer that eLCs
are being used for the purchase (or part purchase) of approved digital
resources to enable the content provider or retailer to provide the
Department for Education and Skills with information on eLC spend.
- If a school
has not received an allocation of eLC funds, it should contact its local
education authority and speak to the individual or team responsible
for distributing Standards Fund money received from the Department for
Education and Skills.
