What is a Tablet PC?

The Tablet PC does have a certain "WOW" factor when you first use it. The machine is so different from any other PC, and yet it is surprising that almost everything you will find in a comparable laptop is in such a portable unit. The only things missing are:

a mouse (which is made redundant because you can control the machine by hovering the pen over the screen and tapping on it to "click")
a keyboard (which is not necessary because information can be entered in many other ways, although a keyboard can be attached via USB if required)
floppy and CD drives (which can be added via USB when necessary)

Because these parts are missing from the Tablet PC, it makes the machine much smaller, much lighter and much more portable than any laptop or desktop PC. Indeed, when my two trusty assistants compared the weight of the Tablet with one of our school laptops, they found that the Tablet was approximately half the weight of the laptop. Olivia also explained that she found it easier to hold and use on the move. However, it can feel quite heavy after a time, and you may feel the need to put it down for a while!
