What is podcasting? | Introduction to podcasting guide Podcasting, according to Wikipedia "is the practice of making audio files available online in a way that allows software to automatically detect new files and download them". This is achieved using an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed to provide information about a collection of audio files in MP3 format. Simple to create requiring just a microphone, PC/Laptop and an Internet connection, Podcasts are now being increasingly used by children in the classroom to:
Our guide, “An introduction to Podcasting,” is intended to show how easy it is for learners to use Podium to create and share audio files. Hopefully, after using the guide, schools and teachers will take the initiative and start using Podcasting to promote the use of ICT across the curriculum and to challenge children to create learning resources for others.
