Introduction
Paul Norris was ICT co-ordinator at Bidborough Primary School. His Year 6 class created web-based books for Year 1, in MS FrontPage. To make the process of creating a web page as simple as possible, Paul designed a template for Big Book pages. Children pasted in text which they had previously composed in Word. Scanned drawings were re-sized in PaintShop Pro before adding to the page.
In this case study Paul gives specific advice on using MS FrontPage. He also makes recommendations for managing the activity in the classroom setting. His comments apply to multimedia authoring in general, and you may find this report helpful if you are planning for your class to create non-web-based Big Books using software such as PowerPoint or Textease2000.
