Key objective

To record evidence of the river and the surrounding areas

Equipment needed

• Digital cameras
• Camcorders

This is an opportunity for the children to use cameras and camcorders to record as much evidence as possible. These can be used to create photo trails, PowerPoint presentations and displays of results. It is usually a good idea to record children measuring and working. Also photograph the river, the river banks, the animals and any plants. Also look for any other items of interest.

Problems

Apart from problems of using the technology the main things to work on are scale. Make sure the children use something to show the scale of the things they are photographing, so they can put a pencil alongside the thing they are photographing.
