What is the River Watch project?

River Watch is an opportunity for children aged five to eighteen in schools across Kent and Sussex to collect and publish on the Internet during June and July 2007 information about rivers and waterways in the region. Published work covering all areas of the curriculum can include written reports, poems, graphs, tables, art work, video, music and dance.

Rivers on Film

Encourage your pupils to become amateur filmmakers

To record the important role rivers play in all our everyday lives, schools are invited to make short 3 – 5 minute videos about local rivers and streams. These videos about river features, river wildlife or environmental issues can be made using either sophisticated Digital Camcorders or simple to use “Digital Blue Movie Cameras.”

Finished videos will be published for schools across the South East Grid to view in July 2007. A timetable with broadcasting dates will be published on the South East Grid for Learning and details circulated to all participating schools.

Interview an Expert with

To learn more about rivers pupils from across the region will have the opportunity on July 1st 2007 to interview experts from various Organisations and Agencies about Environmental and Conservation issues. To take part in the live videoconferencing Workshops schools will need a FlashMeeting log-in
