Past Winners
Heritage Explorer is an image-based resource for teaching history, citizenship and many more subjects. Teachers can access classroom-ready materials at the click of a button. Choose from over 360,000 pictures, including historic views of daily life, aerial photography, and modern shots of listed buildings. Images are accompanied by accessible information and a range of teaching ideas. A range of case studies and 'How to' guides provide useful information on how to get the most out of Heritage Explorer and tailor the resources to suit specific teaching and learning needs. All of the images are copyright cleared and free to use for educational purposes. They can be copied or saved. For further information please see Terms and Conditions. The resources are structured to follow precisely the learning objectives of the renewed framework. For ease of navigation the resources are also listed by topic. The clips are being offered free of charge to all schools during the development phase. You need to register (free)to have full access to the resources.

Soungle is a free site, developed by Southern Codes, for finding all kind of sound FX and musical instruments samples from their mega online library. As different from most of similar sites, Soungle is NOT a Web search engine. It only searches in their growing monster database. Our goals are to keep it simple to use (search, preview and download) and to keep it free. All sounds their sound effects and samples are royalty free for downloading. Keyword searches are performed by entering any word or phrase in a search box. The retrieved results of a keyword search are displayed ten to a page. Clicking on play icon allows you to preview a file. Download button instantly downloads the sound effect or musical instrument sample file. A short description of the sound appears on top of every sound , followed by the frame rate, duration and bit rate.
The Teaching Ideas website is run by Mark Warner, a teacher at The Downs Primary School in east Kent. Mark runs the website as a hobby and started it when he was at university as a way to share his own teaching resources with others. It now also contains resources shared by teachers all round the world. The ideas, activities and worksheets on the website are organised according to a number of subjects (those covered in the English National Curriculum). Super Action Comic Maker Super Action Comic Maker is part of the Artisan Cam website. Using a range of backgrounds and characters, each with a different pose, pupils can create an A4 action hero comic book page. On the same theme The Hero Factory is great activity for creating your own Superhero which can then be downloaded as a .jpg or printed directly from the site. An exciting new digital comic called, Selenia, has been created by Emma Weitkamp of the Science Communication Unit at the University of the West of England to help primary school children learn about scientific enquiry and changing materials. The comic, which is in digital format can be used on a whiteboard in the classroom. The comic and resources are all free. In the stories, Selenia, the schoolgirl heroine travels from her alien planet to Earth where she makes two friends. Through her adventures, children develop an understanding of the properties of materials – such as the difference between gases, solids and liquids. The teaching resources, which accompany the comics, are designed to build children's understanding of scientific processes. The stories are full of action, magic and fun and are designed to give children the opportunity to explore science in unconventional ways. The National Grid for Learning (NGfL) Cymru’s website is full of lots of great lessons that are perfect for use on an interactive whiteboard. They have created lots of new resources which are a must to see inclusing a manthly calendar containing very cleverly made powerpoints. Register for free
Go-Givers complements and extends the SEAL and Healthy Schools programmes into the wider context of society and addresses Community Cohesion. The ‘Go-Givers’ cartoon characters, who represent children from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, have inspired the stories for younger children. For older children there are modules on challenging topics such as Rights & Responsibilities and immigration. The lessons consist of downloadable PPT presentations, and ‘Learning Activities’ in pdf format. The site also includes a motivational electronic ‘Kindness Kit’ and a collection of innovative web tools, for example the Ballot Box, the Time Line and a Decision Making Tool.
