Software for Numeracy

This list is provided to suggest good software that will support the QCA Scheme of work for Numeracy at Key Stages 1 & 2. It is not mandatory and it is acknowledged that there are other software titles that will cover the scheme equally well.

General Numeracy Resources

	Abacus Teaching Software (Heinemann) KS1/2 Abacus software supports the concepts taught during the daily maths lesson with each activity reinforcing the appropriate objectives covered in the Abacus teaching cards.
	Can Do Maths (Nelson Thornes) KS1/2 Can Do Maths is a flexible series designed to help you plan and deliver the required key objectives while integrating the use of ICT in mathematics. The teacher has the facility to differentiate activities by up to 6 levels and keep records of individual students achievements.
	Maths Powerpoint Presentations (Folens) KS1/2
	RM Maths (RM) KS1/2 RM Maths gives pupils 15 minutes of individualised Maths support a day, exactly matched to their ability, with focus on core skills and Mental Maths.

	MathSphere (MathSphere) KS1/2
	Maths Workshop Calculations (BBC Education) KS2 Maths Workshop offers the opportunity for whole class teaching, practice activities to support mental maths and the ability to differentiate according to pupil ability. It incorporates 200 bright and lively activities, integrated automatic capture of pupil progress and individual record sheet printing. Incorporates rapid recall and mental arithmetic strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

	Number Plane (Sherston) KS1 The Number Plane's use of cartoon animations to enliven aspects of Maths, which are notoriously difficult for some children to grasp, make it a useful addition to any classroom.
	Number Train (Sherston) KS1 This maths software is a great motivator for children in the early junior years. It provides a fun, yet structured approach to practising and reinforcing some of the number skills which children in this age group need to acquire.
