Some websites require 'plug-ins', or 'browser plug-ins'. These are used to extend the capabilities of your browser so you can enjoy an enhanced web experience.

Looking forward

It is worth noting that in the future software will be increasingly available online rather than requiring installation locally.  Schools will need to subscribe annually and costs will typically be based on pupil numbers.

A major advantage of online software is the ability for pupils to have access both at school and at home.  As schools introduce Learning Platforms, software they have subscribed to will be accessible through this portal and so be available via a single sign on.

Now and in the future, schools will wish to ensure that they have the full range of software / hardware available to ensure pupils receive an appropriately broad ICT experience.  The following list is not intended to be exhaustive but highlights products recommended to us by schools and supported by the Primary ICT Course Programme.  We acknowledge there are many other equally good products available.

Core software:

  • MS Office 2003
  • Textease CT
  • Tizzy’s First Tools or 2Simple Infant Video Toolkit

In addition you need to choose relevant:

  • Music software
  • Simulation software
  • Control hardware
  • Data Logging hardware & software
  • Digital camera software
  • Digital Blue Microscope software
