Single-draw Understanding of the genre of design drawing has been achieved. The object sits alone and disembedded from any context. The child produces a single, unevaluated, drawing of an object they wish to make. Where the child makes an exact copy of the drawing, it is because they have used their current drawing style for the object. This can be seen most strongly in 2-dimensional products. 3-dimensional products often show little resemblance to the drawing, especially among younger children. Some older children produce a single-draw which they label with all the materials they intend to use. There is an example of this on the home page. Although they are using drawing to record their ideas in a way which is progressing towards the making of the product, they have not used drawing to explore other possible solutions to the design problem.
