7. The Geographical Association

The Geographical Association is a vital resource for primary school teachers via its publishing department. Primary and secondary classroom teachers, advisory teachers, inspectors and geographers involved in training and in research institutes write voluntarily for the GA. Its publications seek to advise and inform on the teaching of geography in both primary and secondary education. It holds an annual three-day conference, of which at least one day is now targeted at primary teachers. You can become a personal member of the GA, or your school can become a corporate member. Publications are available more cheaply to members. Publications and membership details can be obtained from:

The Geographical Association, 166 Solly Street, SHEFFIELD, S1 4BF Tel: 0114 2960088 Fax: 0114 2670688. Email ga@geography.org.uk
