16: River Dictionary

For this, you will need to work with a friend.

1) Make a list of all the different features of a river in the upper course.

2) Make a list of all the different features of a river in the middle course.

3) Make a list of all the different features of a river in the lower course.

4) Now make a list of all the different features of a river which are man-made (artificial).

5) Now you need to decide how you will organise your river dictionary.

Put a  by your choice.

a) Alphabetically (a, b, c, d etc.)

b) According to which course the feature is found in, plus a section for man-made features.

c) According to natural or man-made feature, in alphabetical order.

d) According to which course the feature (both natural and man-made) is found in.

When you start your dictionary, you will need to make sure that you include a definition of all the words associated with a river. Your teacher will be able to help you with this by checking this planning sheet to see if you have written down all the words to do with rivers. Look at a dictionary to see how the words and their meanings are presented.
