The Rivers Medway, Eden and Beult The River Medway is the longest river in Kent. The River Eden in west Kent is a tributary of the River Medway. It travels from the border with Surrey, rising south of Caterham and flows eastward through the Wealden clay to join the River Medway near Penshurst. The River Beult (pronounced belt) is a small river in mid Kent. It has several sources west of Ashford, and then flows through Headcorn and onwards to join the Teise. The combined rivers enter the Medway at Yalding, about two miles to the north. .
