Data handling software, such as spreadsheets and databases, help pupils to access complicated data in a methodical way, and demonstrate patterns and trends. Using pre-prepared census data pupils can be encouraged to query the database to develop high level historical research and ICT skills. The ability to sort, categorise, manipulate data within a touch of a button allows complex tasks to be completed by students of all abilities.
