General History Websites

The Here's History Kent web site contains a vast range of local history materials for the towns and parishes of Kent.

screenshotHistorical video-clips and other resources are available through the award winning schools history website 'The Learning Curve' from the National Archives.

Show.me.uk contains games and resources which relate directly to the National Curriculum. All content of the website is targeted at Key Stages 1 and 2.

Headline History
The idea is that pupils become reporters on these newspapers. They can read and talk about the newspaper stories and then go on to interview up to 30 characters per era (through streaming video playback). These characters have witnessed the events which make up the six front page leads. The pupils then add quotes from these witnesses to the front page story to create their own version that they can then save or print out.

Time Pirate Adventure. Stop the evil genius and his time pirates from stealing history!
Time Pirates is interactive game exploring the Port of London from Roman times to the present day. Children complete tasks and follow clues to prevent an evil genius and his time pirates from stealing history. There are animations, hot spots, games and challenges to complete along their journey. As well as the game there is an interactive timeline of the Port of London and a teachers' page containing links to the National Curriculum.

Time Pirates has been written and created by teachers, curators and museum education specialists from the National Maritime Museum, the Museum in Docklands and the Museum of London.
