Year 2
In her evaluation, Alison Trelfer points
out that the project may be more appropriate for Year 2. It may
fit in well with Term 3: Humorous Stories. As an alternative to
giving the pupils shapes in order to draw their monsters, they could
draw their own, and give a verbal description to an adult (to be
scribed) or write it down afterwards (depending on ability).
The drawing could be undertaken during
an Art lesson (whilst reinforcing speaking and listening skills).
Writing the descriptions could be done in the Literacy Hour. The
class teacher could model her own monster and write a description
during a shared writing session.
