The
Monster Project was a well-established writing project involving
the exchange of e-mail between two classes in different schools.
Children design and draw monsters then e-mail descriptions to their
partners in the paired class. The partners try to reproduce the
monsters from the written descriptions. The results can be compared
with the originals using scanners, digital photographs or even conventional
'snail' mail.
This simple idea leads to a variety
of opportunities to support the development of Literacy, and can
be applied to any age group. There are web sites which offer help
with e-mail contacts, but in this project Alison Trelfer set up
her own e-mail link between a Reception class in her school and
a school in Milton Keynes.
