Latin for the able child

At Roseacre, we have worked on ways of extending the more able child within the Literacy Hour using ICT. We have put together a list of web sites that we have used successfully to research writers in the Literacy Hour. This work could also be used to cover the QCA unit 6D for ICT - Using the Internet to search large databases. We have also listed the categories of writing for which the sites may be used.

We have also created A4 sheets in Publisher which give advice on story writing. These may be printed out and used as guides, or they may be saved to your hard drive or a floppy disk. They could then be used as templates, which can be personalised to suit the story title being presented to your class.

We have introduced Latin to enhance and extend able pupils' understanding of English grammar and vocabulary. We use the Minimus Latin course for primary pupils and the Vindolanda web site.
