Making labels for children's
work
A set of linked grids to help children to find
and write their own names.
Children in this class sit at tables which are named
after a colour. These grids help the children to find their own name
by first clicking on a cell that has their table colour in it. The children
then see a grid with the names of all the children on that table. They
find their own name and click to write it.

grid yourself |
|
In the example, the teacher has created a
main grid with four coloured cells. Each coloured cell is linked
to another grid. The 'back' button enables children to return
to the colour grid.
 |
All Clicker grids have this
back button on the grid toolbar. However, you may want to
convert a cell in the grid into a button so that it's larger
and easier to click. |
First, create all the grids you need
before adding links. Click here for
details on creating basic grids.
|
You may change the background colour of a grid using the Grid Properties
dialogue box. This appears when you create a new grid. If you are
already working on a grid, click Grid
> Grid Properties from the Clicker
Writer toolbar.
You may change the background colour of an individual cell from
the Cell Properties menu. Hold down the shift
key and click the right mouse button
over a cell.
Save each grid in the appropriate folder. Once the grids have been
saved, you can add the links to other grids.

Adding links between
grids
Right click the cell where you want to place
the link to another grid. Select the 'Open
grid' tab.
Click the 'Open
this Grid' button and then click 'Browse'.
Select the grid you want to open when the link cell is clicked.
Important Note:
You must remember to save each grid again after you have
added a link.

Adding a large
'Back' button
To turn a cell into a 'back'
button, you can insert a picture of a 'back' arrow into the cell.
From Cell Properties, click
the 'Appearance' tab and the
'Graphic' button. You will
see a list of all the folders of clip art that are part of Clicker
4. In the 'Icons' folder there
are a number of button graphics to choose from.
You must also tell Clicker to return the user
to the colour grid. Right click the button cell, select the 'Open
grid' tab and click the 'Previous grid' option.
