This collection of resources covers the range of
poetry outlined in the Literacy Framework for Key Stage Two. Our aim
is to exploit the wealth of material available on the World Wide Web,
reducing the workload of teachers and supplying some lively, interesting
work to inspire aspiring young poets.
Every effort will be made to check that outside
links remain active. However, if resources suddenly become unavailable,
please contact Kent
NGfL.
Genres are grouped under the terms in which they
are taught. Where possible, each is linked to a relevant web site. The
A-Z Index of poets has links to biographical information and examples
of work. The Glossary page has links to on-line glossaries to help in
understanding the plethora of poetic vocabulary included within the
Literacy document.
Poetry Archive
Poetry Archive is a world-wide collection of recordings of poets reading their work. You can listen, free of charge, to the voices of contemporary English-language poets and of poets from the past.
Poems are searchable by theme, poet, title, poetic form - it's excellent. There is a special
child-friendly section: www.poetryarchive.org/
