ICT Unit 1C To show that information can be presented in a variety of forms and collected from a range of sources
Integrated Task
Using a collection of musical instruments and recordings of the sounds they make, play each recording and ask the children to match the sound to the instrument. Encourage them to play the instrument to see if they were right.
Using images of instruments, ask the children to match the recorded sound to the image, perhaps using a word and image bank. Discuss the fact that some musical instruments, eg piano, violin, have a range of sounds, while others, eg drum, triangle, merely vary their intensity from loud to soft. Encourage the children to think about what information we gain from handling the instrument rather than just looking at an image of it, eg the sound it makes can only be conveyed by playing the instrument (or by listening to a recording of it).
Ask the children to make a simple presentation about sounds and instruments, using a variety of information sources.
Learning Outcome
- recognise that information can be presented in a variety of forms and collected from a range of sources
