Introduction

Show Sikh artefacts from classroom, and ask children what each is used for.
Show children the RE artefacts database.
Discuss the link between the artefacts and the website.

Explain that children are going to create labels for the display in the classroom, to tell us about each artefact.
Revise how to copy and paste a photograph from the website into a Word document (NB permission was obtained).
Show how WordArt can create a large heading, and remind the children how to add text.

Main activity

Working in pairs, children select a photograph of an artefact. They copy and paste it into a new Word document, create a WordArt label and add some text to it.

Provide support as needed, and ask them to suggest how the presentation of their work could be improved.

Plenary

With whole class look at print outs of completed work. Ask children for their opinion of each piece of work and whether it would be effective on display in the classroom.
