Unit 5c:
Gases Around Us
Recognise that air is a material and that it is one of a range of gases which have important uses, that liquids evaporate to form gases and that gases change shape and flow from place to place.
Direct2U Lesson Plan
In the context of a unit of study on ‘gases' the teacher uses an activity from the BBC Science clips website to demonstrate what happens when a liquid is heated and turns to a gas.

Children use the internet or CD-ROMs to find out about a range of gases and how they are used. They could present their findings as a poster, multimedia presentation or an information leaflet.
Look at dry sponge or soil to see the gaps between solid particles.
Look at sand and identify the space between the particles and think about the way the water displaces the particles.
Children create a multimedia presentation to explain the difference between solid, liquids and gases.
