Interviewing evacuees

Five Kent primary schools took part using FlashMeeting in the “Interview and Evacuee Day” on Friday 18th May 2007. Before the sessions copies of the pupils’s questions were forwarded to the Evacuees and a trial conference arranged for the pupils to familiarise themselves with the application.

The Video Conference lasted two hours with each school given twenty minutes to ask their questions.

The three Evacuees answered questions on a range of subjects that included:

• What was it like to leave your family and home?
• Why did you have to put up “blackout” curtains?
• Where were you evacuated to?
• What did you do when the Air Raid siren sounded?
• What were your best and worst memories?
• Where were you evacuated to?
