Weather Watch Art Project
What we did! |
” Using our imagination to express our ideas,
thoughts and feelings about the weather around us?”
During the three week project pupils used a range of materials and tools to show different weather conditions. Some of their work combined marks with shapes. In instances where pupils used their drawings as the basis for their weather sculptures they were encouraged not to draw objects or places but to express their ideas in an abstract form. |
Wonderful Weather Walk
Class 3 at Nonington Primary created a Weather Walk in the school grounds. Working together, the pupils weaved twigs and other materials to create a tunnel.
To show different weather conditions they hung materials from the roof and sides of the tunnel. The white fabric represents the conditions you experience on a cold foggy day. |
|
The Wonderful Weather Wind Chime
Jupiter class at St Albans Road created a Weather Wind Chime. During a Literacy session the children thought of words they could use to describe the weather and how different weather made them feel. The words were then written on strips of paper which and hung from the Wind Chime.
The finished sculpture can be viewed in the school foyer. |

|
Our Abstract Art
The Gifted and Talented Art Group at Godinton Primary School have this term been viewing the works of the Swiss sculptor Jean Tinguely and the American artist Richard Diebenkom.
They used some of the ideas in their 2 and 3-D Abstract Art work. |

|
Fantastic Frittenden in 3D
The pupils at Frittendon Primary discussed their favourite types of weather before painting and creating collages of each.
They then created weather sculptures to show the different weather types using coloured card. All the pieces on the models were attached without using glue or sellotape. |

|
Lydden 3-D Sculptures
Possum class enjoyed making 3-D sculptures to represent the sun, wind and snow. The pupils used a range of materials including card, paper, plastics and wires to create their models.
The finished models are presently on display in the school “Environmental Garden” for pupils, parents and adults to view. |

|
Weather and landscapes
Pupils at Bodsham Primary viewed the work of the Artist J.M.W Turner. They then selected three coloured chalks to create their own weather landscapes.
Look carefully at their work to see how they merged the chalks together to create different colours and effects. |
 |
England and Australia joint project
Lydden, River and St Mary's Primary schools in Dover are presently taking part in a link project with Faith Lutheran College, Brisbane, Australia. This week the schools are taking part in the "Art and Weather Project."
To compare and contrast the weather in both locations the children from all the schools are regularly publishing weather reports on the Dover/Brisbane microsite. |
