World Wide Collaboration

Do you need motivation for your pupils with REAL learning experiences? Do you want to give a Global Dimension to the curriculum? By 2010 all children in the UK are meant to have established links with children from another country.

Why not start working to-wards the British Council’s International School Award this year, at one of the entry levels? It really helps towards the school’s SEF review.

Participate in the Kent Weather Watch 2008-9 project, and you will be able do all of these things.

How can we all collaborate?

A great way to collaborate is through the safe, educational and social website of www.superclubsplus.com (most of our Global Schools use this site). On Superclubsplus, schools will be able to link through online forums, to talk about the weather and data collected and pupils can email their pen pals. Pupils will also be able to publish their poems, art work, stories and findings about the weather on their homepages, whilst schools can set up their own ‘Weather pages’ for pupils to contribute too. There will also be special ‘Global Weather Pages’ on Superclubsplus, as well as ‘Hot Seats’ linked to various aspects of the project, where pupils can ask expert appropriate questions. If your school hasn’t registered for Superclubsplus, then you will need to do so, as all schools need to be validated.

Further collaboration with schools will take place in the form of snail mail, podcasts and flash meetings, which is available free to all schools; most of our International Schools also have these facilities in place.

NB. Superclubsplus was promoted at Kent Twilight sessions last year for using and teaching Internet Safety to KS2 pupils. It is an International website with over 100,000 children using it and 10,000 teachers. It is cross curricular, creative and motivational and pupils can add graphics and sounds to their home pages. Above all this site is mediated by people who were in the whole, mainly teachers and who thus understand children’s and school’s needs.
