Climate Change

Pupils from Frittenden Primary School have this term been investigating the subject of Climate Change.

'FlashMeeting' video conference with staff from the societyTo help learn more about our changing planet the pupils downloaded some of the practical activities from the Royal Meteorological Society website.

These activities included experiments on:

  • Insulation
  • freezing and melting
  • Air conditioning.

At the end of the project the pupils published their results on the 'Weather Watch Making the News' website.

Their work included poems, PowerPoint presentations and photographs. Finally, to evaluate and share their results with others the pupils took part in a 'FlashMeeting' video conference with staff from the society.

During the FlashMeeting video conference with a tutor from the RMS the pupils displayed their work on the Flashboard and answered questions about Climate Change, the Seasons and Global Warming.

The Royal Meteorological Society website

The RMS website contains ideas and lesson plans to enhance the learning and teaching of weather. The material is grouped into weather subjects and each subject has two downloadable parts.

The World will Shrink
by Lily, Frittenden School

Save our planet from dying
Or you will too
We need help to save the Earth
Or children will stop crying
Lives will be lost
Polar bears will drown
Food will not be found
Loneliness will come upon us
Our troubles will be bigger
Our hearts will turn to a blazing fire
It feels like the world is shrinking
The blizzards
The thunder will come
But we have only got one world
This one!

One World
by Martina

The world is our home
It helps us through each day
Everyday you kill the world
Take care of the world

Everyday penguins die
Polar bears are drowning now
Fish dying, seals don't have food
Take care of the world

Recycle today
At home use recycled things
At school use light from out side
Take care of the world
